This is a reminder that homework stops when you enter recitation: it makes no sense to attend several recitations in order to complete the homework (once the homework you turn in reflects something other than your own work, things get unhealthy very fast). It is great if you learn more from attending several recitations. But you do not learn by finishing homework in recitation: that approach will hurt you on test day, when it really matters.
Also, about the timing of quizzes, they are disruptive (put away the books, etc) in the middle of lecture, much too messy (people leaving, especially in the much larger 251 class) at the end of lecture, so the best time is at the beginning of lecture. May I suggest that some of you need to take the earlier bus? :-]Moving along: make sure you don't fall behind. See me with specific questions before they accumulate (they might be, whether you know it or not...) For next week, solve problems 2.93 (and calculate the angle between vectors P and Q), 2.109, 2.119, 2.134 and 3.7.A test is approaching fast, to be discussed in class. The last homework leading to it includes 3.23, 59, 69, 78, 87.This email is addressed (blind copy for confidentiality) to a group of students whose insufficient participation in ecs221, as measured by missed homework, recitations and/or quizzes, fits the profile of eventual failure in the course.
